Extra-curricular Classes

Ballet and Tap classes

Ballet and Tap instruction are offered to children age 3-5 years old. Children will focus on poise, balance, concentration, and memory… while having fun! Classes are held at Ivy League Academy, so there is no commuting to a studio after work or on weekends. Your child may participate in a dance recital at the end of the dance season. Classes start the first week of September and are held once a week and consist of 1/2 hour of Ballet and 1/2 hour of Tap. Classes end the last week of May, with a dance recital being held, usually, the first Saturday of June.

Music classes

Introduce your child to the joys of playing music! We will teach your child a basic knowledge of music theory, rhythm, and various musical styles through fun and easy games! They will be introduced to a rich variety of musical instruments. They will also learn rhythmical exercises and how to play a simple melody! Musical Variety and Singing. Activities include a mixture of musical genres and styles and provide a setting for your child to explore his/her many voices and to use a “singing voice.” Singing helps with memory and recall, physical development, creativity and socialization. This program will be open for children 3-4 years of age and it is coming soon.

Sports classes

Sport sessions are 40-minute weekly session. Our classes are held for a group of 3 years old to 5 years old and a group of 6 years old to 12 years old. Sport sessions start the first week of October until last week of May. The primary objective of each session is to creatively introduce your child to the sport of Basketball, Baseball, Tennis and Soccer. Character/physical development and fun are guaranteed. Sport sessions incorporate the following: basic sport skills, exclusive games, fun fitness activities and exercises, coordination, balance, and agility development, use of imagination, character-building lessons.

It is progressive in nature; starting with the basic movement patterns for the younger children and progressing to sport drills for the older kids. This program uses these sports as the means to teach life skills: sharing, taking turns, listening, empathy, teamwork. Each class is taught in a fun and positive environment where every child is given the opportunity to succeed. We use balls, hoops, scarves, scooter-boards, balance beams, and rackets, among others.
