Toddlers — Two Years Old Program

Tons of energy and excitement along with lots and lots of questions asked everyday perfectly describe our toddler two program. While gross motor activities are promoted (crawling under the tunnel, dancing and singing in our circle time; climbing, riding, running, tossing, catching, and throwing on the playground); Language development and Potty training routines are also included as a part of our Milestones in our “2 years old” daily schedule.

Curriculum

The Foundations for Success – Toddler model is the curriculum we use in our “2 years old” classrooms. It focuses on four foundational areas necessary for supporting toddler development: language, relationships, movement, and senses perceptions.

We promote developmental growth of communication, the formation of vocabulary and the increasing awareness of reading by: Exposing your child to different words based on weekly themes during circle time and small group speech development activities, different “one and two step” routine directions each day (listening comprehension) encouraging your child to talk about his/her experiences throughout the day; having available a variety of book formats, genres and age appropriate complexity, a wide variety of books displayed to be easily seen and used; use of toys for listening, speech, and emergent writing activities; puppets and story props during teaching time. Print rich-environment (print used for organization, children’s name posted; vocabulary words displayed) among other resources will allow your child to experience different ways of promoting language.

We start activities that promote sharing and peer relationships, which help our toddlers to develop the ability to socialize with friends. Toilet training will be one of the most important missions accomplished in our toddler twos classrooms. Teachers will teach learning activities along with potty visits and constant pier recognition will be given for your child’s accomplishments.

Teachers in our “2 years old” classrooms will assist your child in order to continue improving his/her gross motor skills each day.

Our teachers will also discuss with your child his/her experiences such as what he/she hears, sees, smells, tastes, feels and touches while experiencing our messy activities. Your child’s teachers will take advantage of our lunch and snack time to talk about textures of food and how they smell and taste. Teachers will continue teaching your child basic concepts, such as body parts, shapes and colors, love, feelings, nursery rhymes, people, nature, animals and things that go, among other basic concepts that are encountered in a two year olds developmental process.

Physical Health

We are a high quality early childhood development center ( preschool / childcare center ) where physical health is one of the most important components of each days rituals and routines. Exercise, nutrition, auditory and visual development as well as muscle development are our priorities. Our comprehensive physical development and health programs offer great potential for enhancing the capacity of children’s minds and bodies to achieve their highest potential.

Environment

Exciting and loving displays, warm classroom design, organized and spacious areas, child-sized tables and chairs, specialized furniture for learning, low dividers to establish boundaries between learning centers: social studies (dramatic play); exploration center (manipulative, math and science) arts, music and movement; reading center; writing center, describe our “2 years old” classrooms environment.

Another quality of our Toddler program is that each toddler is provided his/her own personal sleep mat for nap time. Our classroom is also equipped with separate changing and feeding areas for your child’s health and well being.
